PERPETUA SERIE

style: spontaneous perpetua beer with grapes

Vignevecchie 2024 is the result of a collaboration with a winemaker friend of ours, Matteo Niccolai. Matteo comes from Bolgheri, a wine-growing area here in Tuscany renowned for its Supertuscans — very expensive wines produced in ultra-modern wineries designed by renowned architects.
Matteo’s project is the exact opposite. He works to revive old vineyards in the area, whose owners are often too old to tend them but refuse to sell to big companies eager to buy their land for Supertuscan production.
Matteo brought us a few cases from the first harvest of one of these vineyards. The grapes were fully ripe Sangiovese, which we crushed by foot and vinified, then blended with one of our spontaneously fermented beers from Perpetua, called Ka, aged for about three years, at roughly 40%.
After one year of ageing, it’s being released. Only a small batch of bottles was produced — no kegs. No yeast / brett / bacteria added.
